Ball Drill Sheet

Does anyone have a ball drill sheet in electronic form? Something along the lines of Ebonites Pro Shop Coordinator format?

Ive looked until Im blue and cannot find anything that is remotely similar. Ive found a few examples here and there and they were either cluttered beyond belief or hopelessly lacking.

I just want something so I can keep hard and soft copies of my drill sheets and perhaps something I could email, etc. if needed.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

I'll have to check in a few. Right now my PC is running off a CD as I attempt to install Win XP to a compact flash card. Its a bit more work than installing Linux on CF, go figure.

Oh, by the way, keep plugging away at that debt free pursuit. Its well worth it. Me and my wife cleared all our debt last Feb. 'Course, now we went and bought a house, closed on it the day before Thanksgiving but its great to know Im not really a slave to a job as I could easily work minimum wage now and pay the mortgage and utilities. But we are going to as aggressively as we can pay off the mortgage. We've figured up what we need to do to pay it off in 10 years or less and if I have anything to say about it, Im shooting for the much less end.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Okay, I downloaded that file and it looks good and comprehensive enough to accommodate most anyone. The Ebonite sheet has more stuff on it but Im not sure who would really need the extra info. Probably more for the really high end bowlers that have their stuff precisely dialed in, who knows.

Anyway, I downloaded the PDF file, modified it so that it now has form fields in it and you can fill it in on the fly and save it. So if anyone would like to get a copy and host it so it can be linked here just send me your email address. I probably got a few things to work out, most notably the tab order but if you notice anything else let me know so I can work on it.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Thank you sir, very much appreciated. Ive run across drillsheet.com before and while I think its a great idea, and have an account there, its not all that useful for the fact there are no pro shops participating in Oklahoma and it doesnt allow me to enter multiple sheets. I like to keep a separate sheet for each change made with notes as to why so that I dont repeat things and can see how things have progressed.

The bowlerstore.com link you provided was the exact same sheet I was looking for. If nothing else I can convert that over to a form fill PDF like I did for the one from Jayhawk bowling.

It just seems a waste to have all this info around and no real way to send it about and travel with it if needed. Drillsheet.com seems to be on the right track and would be much better if there were more participants and allowed multiple sheets with the ability to mark the one that is current.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Hey StormStrikes,

I am the creator of Drillsheet.com, and I absolutely love the idea of having multiple iterations to an individual's spec. I have a some development time coming in the next few months, and I plan on developing this feature for the site. If you or anyone else have other ideas that will help improve drillsheet, please do not hesitate to PM me or reply to this posting. I will keep a close eye for these posts.

Thanks,

--Joe

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Excellent. The only other thing I can see that would help drillsheet.com would be getting more pro shop participation but I know that takes time. I think in the mean time, something that would help in regards to the effectiveness would be some sort of public link to the currently used drill sheet. An option if you will to make your drill sheet public or not.

Bowlspot.com I believe has an option like this when it comes to your scoring stats and other information.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Here is something I use. It has a scale drawing of a ball with midline and centerline and you can draw your layout and pap and track on it easily. It keeps track of a lot of information about the ball and lets me describe the reaction.

Its in powerpoint and not linked to any kind of database.

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

I have the idea of public specs and bowling ball arsenals already on my development queue. I was thinking of building a forum on the front of the site. In the forum, I thought it would be nice to allow the users to link their specs/arsenal for others to view. Since I will be making a public option for these, it will be easy to share a designated URL of your specs.

As for getting pro shops on board...it has been very slow. It is completely free for pro shops (along with bowlers wanting to hold their own data), but most pro shops are slow to adapt. I have been trying to talk to all of the pro shops I see during my bowling travels. Even if they are not going to use the site for their specs, it is a good idea to create an account to let bowlers find you (free marketing) and to let the bowlers send their data to you in an electronic format. Please tell your pro shop(s) about the site and ask if they would sign up.

Keep the ideas coming!

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

Next time I down at the pro shop I'll bring it up. You're right, its at least free marketing if nothing else.

Once you get the multiple drill sheet option available I'll be making much more use of the site. I'll try here in the next day or so to get my current sheet updated to the site and go from there.

I am curious about one thing though. How did you know we were talking or had mentioned the site here?

Re: Ball Drill Sheet

I use Google Alerts to inform me by email of any time it sees a site with the words "drill sheet". Its response is not always immediate, but it is still nice to see what people are talking about. I have noticed that my choice of words are not the best. Most of the emails I receive from Google are about Hockey Drill Sheets or Math Drill Sheets.

Google does this as a free service, and I find it extremely useful and fun to watch. You can type in any keywords that you would like. You can also set the frequency of emails. If you are doing a high volume keyword, it is best to set the frequency to one email a day instead of every time Google sees the keyword(s).
