Re: Help, need to lower track

Sounds like your a full roller possibly would need video to help.

You span finger sz. etc. has nothing to so with your track.

For cusesaw.....put the pin above the fingers....im assuming the ball you have now is pin below bridge or close to it.

Re: Help, need to lower track

it's not a full roller the track is clipping left edge of thumb and finger mainly on my pin up stuff. I have 2 balls with pin on center line and below fingers that track about 1/2 inch away from all holes

Re: Help, need to lower track

Looks like Pin up drillings wont work for you then.

If the ball still rolls good then who cares. If it hits holes. At least thats how I feel about it.

Re: Help, need to lower track

Your span could have something to do with your roll pattern and to a certain extent, your pitches too. But most importantly, your hand position is too much behind the ball.

If your span is not too long, you can try various hand positions. If you're not already doing this, spread your index finger about as far as you can, you might also try tucking the pinky. Try to relax your hand a little at the point of release too.

These are just some suggestions as there are a lot of other factors that could come into play.

Arrow Re: Help, need to lower track

My track is high too and i see no performance decrease, after using a ball that tracks just left of my thumb or hitting the edge where the thumb is located. My plastic spare ball tracks over the thumb and just left of my thumb hole.

I usually position the pin above the finger holes, at least 1.5-2.5"(5x5, 5x4, 5x3 layouts) work the best for equipment that i use on THS and Kegel Sport Patterns. I would ask your ball driller to place the pin not so close above the fingers, if you'd like i can send you some pictures of layouts i've used and show you where i track on most balls.

Tucking your pinky, increases Revs for most bowlers, not sure if it has any positives lowering your track? I tuck my pinky when playing deep inside going 30 to 8. Tucking the pinky can form a really a bad habit if you continue to do so on all shots. I experienced ring finger soreness, if i solely relied on tucking my pinky for every shot(strike/spare).

PM me !!!

Re: Help, need to lower track

Basically, you need to get your fingers to travel further around the ball AFTER your thumb exits the ball to put a little more tilt on the ball. Tucking the pinky can help. The piece of information that helped me visualize this was "your thumb should move in a counter-clockwise direction (right handed) during the release", just like you're opening a door.

Re: Help, need to lower track

i've seen this reverse track before. couldn't believe it. never had the opportunity to film the guy but what i could see was his swing plane was a little inside out with his follow through coming to his left side instead of out in front of him. there is nothing wrong with the delivery. just had to make sure the inserts were even with the ball. don't know what your style is but if you are scoring just keep the inserts even with the surface of the ball so that the ball doesn't hop when it rolls over the fingers

In reading this I think that the tucking of the pinky advice was given to induce the bowler to come around the ball. With Mojo's problem that he has stated, tucking the pinky to get the feel of coming around the ball a little may help. I agree with you that tucking the pinky can be a bad thing, but here I think that it could not hurt. If it indeed does help him come around the ball, I would think the track should move off the fingers.
