Re: best pearl bowling ball

Ebonite Signals!!!!!!!! mine is drilled with the pin about 1.5'' above the bride and the Cg kicked way out to the right. it gives me a ton of length and backend.

Best how? Best for what conditions? Best at reacting how?

It is impossible to name a best ball or drilling without having any idea how you bowl or what you bowl on. Pearls are also not necessarily the best ball for a skid/snap reaction.

two-handed righty
a fresh kegel easy street pattern.
12 mph
high revs
3rd dot to the right from the left to the third arrow to the fifteen board from the right.
very strong through the backend.

So what ball, drilling, surface.

Re: best pearl bowling ball

The AMP (aftermath pearl) is the best pearl I have thrown in a long time! Since the storm firestorm.... Its very smooth through the front half of the lane, and is not a back end monster. With your speed and revs it should be an awesome ball. Click my sig to see how I had mine drilled... I am a high speed and revs player and have it at 4k polished

Re: best pearl bowling ball

even though the aftermath pearl looks like something I would want to pick up you guys are saying this ball with this strong of a core would match up for someone with high revs and slow speed?
I think I would consider something like a Fringe and or frantic or maybe a s.o.s. ?

Re: best pearl bowling ball

Pearl Panther hands down. Ball gets great length and flips and crushes the pins. Very predictable and it recovers nice. As soon as the shot breaks down, I go to this play straight 10 into the pocket. Carries wonderfully. Nothing bad about this ball. If its too dry, it will let you know by hitting and carrying Brooklyn. I have my drilled pin above ring and cg in middle of grip

Re: best pearl bowling ball

I had the Pearl Panther and it was ok, wasn't much different than my Pink.

I bought a Roto Grip Shatter about 2 months ago and it is the most angular/driving ball I have ever thrown. I have heard it is better for higher speed players (I throw around 17.5mph and high revs) but not sure. Love the ball but it is almost too much most of the time at the house I bowl at. I also picked up a Fire Road since the shatter was too much ball for my by game 2. Again drives so much more than the Pearl Panther. I use most of the lane with both of these balls - 15-18 out to 5. I can post a video if you want... Send me a PM.

Re: best pearl bowling ball

I had an answer until I read the words 'right now'. My Ebonite Playmaker, pin between the fingers was the best pearl I've ever put my thumb in. You may still be able to find an Ebonite Game On which rolls pretty similar imo.

12 mph two handed? I would imagine you are extremely rev dominant. You aren't going to find a ball that skids and makes a big backend move for you, because at that speed/rev rate combo everything is going to hook at your toes.

Use a plastic ball until you get your speed up to at least 15 (without sacrificing form).

Re: best pearl bowling ball

I would have to agree with Bahshay, because of your low speed with a lot of revs it would be best to throw the plastic or even a urethane ball until you get your speed up more to be able to control a higher end piece such as the AMP, Droid Pearl, Shatter, Pearl Panther, ect.

Just my opinion though

Re: best pearl bowling ball

i would say with your low speed and high rev rate that the lane #1 chain-saw sos would be a great fit for you.

Re: best pearl bowling ball

I bowl two handed also, but by far not an expert. Athough, after probably 400 games training the last 6 months, I've learned from plenty of problems and how to correct them. Maybe I can help. When i first started learning, I was using a Track Spare plastic, Brunswick Avalanche Urethane, and Roto Grip Dark Star. One of the advantages of bowling 2-handed is being able to play up the outside with a ton or revs and speed. If you follow the PBA, you've probably seen Belmonte use is plastic ball on TV as his strike ball firing it up the first arrow where knowone else can play. Either you are bowling on a ton of oil, or you might be coming around the ball to much instead of through it. This can create way to much length. I can take my Taboo Deep Purple, one of the strongest pearls on the market right now, come around it really bad on purpose, and it will go straight as an arrow. Once you learn to come through it better (more from behind the ball at release), you will get your current equipment to pop, and increase your speed naturally. Id say try not to hit up on it so much at the bottom. It will cut your revs a bit, but should increase your speed. Also, make sure you are bending way over right before you release. Im six and half feet tall, and my speed increased dramatically once I started getting down low so my hips and legs were getting more into my shots. As your form inproves, you'll get your revs back through natural leverage and momentum at release. Good Luck
